Chris Ho
Data Scientist
Chris is a data scientist at the Big Data Institute within Oxford Population Health. As a member of Dr. Goylette Chami’s Big Data and Helminth Epidemiology Research Group, he is involved in research relating to schistosomiasis, a neglected tropical disease endemic in sub-Saharan Africa.
The project, SchistoTrack, studies transmission and risk factors of schistosomiasis-related morbidities and involves large-scale primary data collection from cohorts in Uganda. Chris's role involves managing, wrangling, and exploring the large volume of data, and performing statistical analyses in collaboration with other members of the group.
Prior to joining Oxford Population Health, he completed an MEng Engineering Science degree at the University of Oxford, where Chris specialised in machine learning and computer vision. His Master’s thesis explored the use of transformer neural networks for real-time human pose estimation.
In Chris's spare time, he enjoys playing and watching football and tennis.
