This event is for staff and students at the Oxford Big Data Institute.

Do you want to know: How backpropagation works? How to build a deep learning model e.g., a convolutional neural network? How to apply them to biomedical data? If so to any of the above, come along to this primer where we will take a hands-on approach to the basics of machine learning using Python.

Objectives

Understanding the principles of neural networks incl. backpropagation
Building a multilayer neural network using TensorFlow (/PyTorch)
Building a convolutional neural network using TensorFlow (/PyTorch)

Pre-requisites

Basic data-wrangling skills using Python. Google account and access to Google Colab.
