The Centre for Genomic Pathogen Surveillance (CGPS), based at the Oxford Big Data Institute, worked in collaboration with Colombia-based AGROSAVIA (La Corporación Colombiana de Investigación Agropecuaria) to enable AGROSAVIA to become gold certified under the Good Financial Grant Practice (GFGP) international standard (ARS 1651). AGROSAVIA is the first organisation in the Americas to become GFGP certified and the second organisation in the world to be certified at gold tier.
“Achieving gold tier GFGP certification is a huge achievement for AGROSAVIA and will bring significant benefits to our organisation. This certification also demonstrates our commitment to best practice across all of our operations.” said Jorge Mario Díaz Luengas, Executive Director of AGROSAVIA.
The GFGP standard is the world’s first international standard in grant management, developed by the Global Grant Community in Kenya, Nairobi through extensive consultation with grantees from across Africa and with support from some of the world’s largest public and private sector funders. GFGP certification enables institutions, through capacity building and adherence to an international standard, to streamline the due diligence process and develop internal financial and grant management capacity. The GFGP standard is being adopted by an increasing number of funders and institutes to enhance sustainability.
The CGPS guided AGROSAVIA through the GFGP certification process, working as collaborating partner in a UK National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) funded Global Health Research Unit on Genomic Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance.
Harry Harste, Head of Operations & Implementation at the CGPS, said, “We are thrilled to have successfully supported AGROSAVIA to achieve gold GFGP certification. The benefits that gold GFGP certification will bring to AGROSAVIA are huge, such as enhancing AGROSAVIA's ability to attract and manage international funding.”
Professor David Aanensen, Director of the CGPS, said “GFGP is a truly equitable initiative that levels the playing field for organisations globally. We are delighted that AGROSAVIA has become the first organisation in the Americas to achieve GFGP gold certification”.
