Oluwadara Okeremi

DPhil Student

Oluwadara (Dara) Okeremi is a DPhil Student in Population Health and an NIH Oxford-Cambridge Scholar supervised by Professor Goylette Chami (SchistoTrack) and Dr. P’ng Loke (NIH-NIAID). Her doctoral research focuses on leveraging murine models and epidemiological studies to understand schistosomiasis pathogenesis, focusing on liver fibrosis and its mechanisms.

She also is currently a MD candidate at the Medical College of Wisconsin, intercalating to complete a DPhil degree through the NIH-OxCam programme. She earned her B.S. in Bioengineering with a Distinction in Research and Creative Work from Rice University. Prior to her DPhil, she optimized machine learning models to generate cancer related passages at the University of Texas at Austin, characterized the malaria circumsporozoite protein using atomic force microscopy at the NIH, and collaborated with the Belize Ministry of Health to investigate acute febrile illnesses and COVID-19 seroprevalence at the Baylor College of Medicine.

Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, going to concerts and trying new restaurants.
