Lee Yates

Operations Manager

My role is the Operations Manager for the Big Data Institute (BDI)/Oxford Population Health Building. I oversee the running and upkeep of the building.

I have been with the University for over 17 years and began life here at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics as a senior laboratory technician overseeing the running of the labs and moved up to operations manager there. Prior to university life, I managed a team of 18 technicians in a blood lab in industry (Medisense) for 11 years. Prior to that I worked for Exxon Mobil testing diesel samples.

The role as an operations manager is very complex and diverse, covering reactive and planned works. I oversee our amazing, dedicated and hard working Facilities Team onsite. I am a great believer in aiding mental health and will be looking towards becoming a mental health champion.
