Joshua Grier

CDT student

Josh completed his integrated master’s in Mathematics at the University of Oxford.

In his third year he undertook a project focussed on quantifying the transmissibility of Covid-19 variants using hierarchical regression models. His master’s project involved modelling the dynamics of a kicked rugby ball and optimising the kicking technique for rugby place kicks. Between his third and fourth years, he carried out a summer internship in the University of Oxford’s Mathematical Institute using differential equations to model the interactions between tumour cells and macrophages.

Outside of studying, Josh enjoys drumming, surfing, board games, and trying to play pretty much any team sport he can find.
