Estelle McCool

CDT student

Estelle received her MMath degree in 2024 after studying Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh.

Outside of her studies, Estelle also worked part-time in Agri-Tech in vertical farming. Estelle’s role focused on building convolutional neural networks to perform automated plant monitoring, as well as performing data analysis and developing crop-testing methodologies.

Estelle has also spent time researching semi-supervised learning in Oxford’s Department of Statistics. Estelle is hoping to apply the skills gained from these experiences to help support research in high impact areas of health data research. Estelle is particularly interested in global health and how advancements in AI could address healthcare inequalities worldwide.

Estelle spends her time playing netball, travelling and reading about her most recent fascination (at the moment it’s fungal biology and the history of football tactics).
