Kat completed her MPhil in Sociology and Demography at Oxford, where she was also a Research Assistant at the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science (LCDS). At LCDS, she explored population health through advanced computational methods. Under the guidance of Prof Jennifer Dowd, her work focused on unravelling the intricate patterns of excess cause-specific mortality in the US during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before her role at LCDS, Kat earned a BSc in Sociology from the Higher School of Economics in Moscow, where she developed a strong foundation in quantitative methods and statistics. Her commitment to addressing health inequalities brought her to Oxford, where she further honed her skills in computational social science.

Kat's MPhil dissertation, supervised by Dr José Manuel Aburto, employed sophisticated statistical models to dissect COVID-19-related excess mortality in Russia, offering new perspectives on population health measurement challenges.

Outside of academia, Kat is a sporty individual who enjoys running, bouldering, cycling, yoga, and more. She also loves drawing and painting.
