I studied Gene Technology (BSc) at Tallinn University of Technology, Psychology (BA) at the University of Tartu, and Psychological Research (MSc) with substantial statistics component at the University of Edinburgh. My master’s thesis focused on using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) to understand the reinstatement of brain activity patterns during recollection of past events. After graduating I worked for a year as a research assistant at the University of Edinburgh, supporting all aspects of new cognitive fMRI studies, such as creating reproducible data processing pipelines.
I am now working on my DPhil with professors Eva Morris (Nuffield Department of Population Health) and Jim Davies (Computer Science), focusing on electronic health records (EHR) to improve the understanding of cancer and cancer care. I am interested in probabilistic machine learning methods that can effectively use the high-resolution EHR data for early detection, patient prioritisation, and treatment pathway optimisation tasks. When I am not engaged in research, I love practicing mindfulness and yoga.
