I grew up in Germany and discovered my passion for statistics while completing a bachelors degree in economics at the University of Mannheim. After that, I decided to pursue a second degree in mathematics at the University of Heidelberg in order to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying probability theory and finally obtained an MSc in Statistical Science from the University of Oxford. During my time as an undergraduate, I was a tutor in both probability theory and statistics and I worked as a research assistant at the Centre for Economic Research. In my master thesis, I investigated how a density estimation problem can be transformed into a classification task using a contrastive sample and described possible implications for likelihood-free inference.
I am fascinated by the possibilities offered by the computational power of modern computers and am interested in statistical models with a thorough probabilistic foundation for large-scale medical datasets.
