Jonathan Ryan

CDT Student

Prior to arriving at Oxford, Jonathan completed an Integrated Master’s in Mathematics and Statistics (MMathStat) at the University of Warwick. During his degree he took an interest in both machine learning and medical statistics.

In the summer of 2024, Jonathan worked at BT as part of a 10-week internship programme in cyber security. Here he worked in a team tasked with developing anomaly detection algorithms for network traffic. Jonathan enjoyed working in an interdisciplinary environment, interacting with domain experts whilst trying to solve an applied statistical problem. He wishes to explore this interest further in a healthcare context and is especially interested in the design of clinical trials.

Outside of his studies, Jonathan has a passion for teaching and in his final year at Warwick delivered regular tutorials across three first year modules covering topics such as probability, algorithms and graph theory.

As hobbies, he plays violin and is an avid fan of video games.
