We have described recent developments in medical informatics and health information technology. This chapter is intended to predict what some of the future developments may be which will play a role in health and healthcare. We take examples from selected areas to do this and give specifics about how we think patient engagement, mobile technologies, big data, cloud, telemedicine, and the Internet of Things may be important. We also offer anecdotes which illustrate how this could take place.
