BDI Summer Studentship Programme 2021

BDI/NDPH building

Applications for the BDI Summer Studentship Programme are now open. The programme will take place remotely over the summer (June – August). Students will be working remotely with health data scientists of the BDI and will get a flavour of the breadth of research being undertaken at this interdisciplinary institute. BDI researchers work on data acquisition, curation, computation and analysis pipelines (either in specific medical domains or on more general methodological and technical innovations), as well as in relevant areas of ethics, governance and policy.

The BDI is offering 3 studentships in 2021, aimed at second or third year undergraduates with a background in quantitative studies (physics, mathematics, computing), software programming in Python (equivalent R skills would also be considered), with prior experience in basic machine learning techniques, particularly those involved in classification or with a background in statistics and experience of writing scripts for analysis. Please check the individual projects for details.

All projects are to start on Monday 5 July 2021. The length of the studentship differs per project, please check the individual projects for details. Please note that all students will be working remotely. Successful candidates will receive a stipend of £3000.

All shortlisted candidates will be invited to an online interview, taking place the week of 24 May.
