Bio: Tom Shakespeare is a sociologist who hangs out with philosophers whenever he can.  His social research has mainly been with disabled people.   His books include Disability Rights and Wrongs.  His bioethics thinking has mainly been about prenatal diagnosis and end of life, as they pertain to disabled people.  He is Professor of Disability Research at the University of East Anglia, and a member of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, for whom he chaired the working party on NIPT this year.
