Sara Matijevic

DPhil Student

I grew up in Serbia and moved to the UK aged 16 to do my A-Levels. I completed my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southampton, during which I developed an interest in health data research and in particular health data interoperability. After this, I completed my MPhil in Population Health Sciences at the University of Cambridge, where I specialised in Health Data Science. For my master’s thesis, I worked on modelling the joint effects of polygenic risk scores and other heritable risk factors for ovarian cancer. Going forward, I am interested in discovering new and exciting topics in health data science during the first year of the CDT!

In my free time, I play volleyball for the Blues team at the University, and also enjoy playing tennis and skiing. Besides sports, I love reading and going to the theatre!
