I develop models for wearable sensor data that better measure physical activity for use in population health studies.

My DPhil is supervised by Professor Aiden Doherty (Oxford Population Health) and Associate Professor Ronald Clark (Department of Computer Science).

I hold an MSc and BSc in applied mathematics and computer science from the University of Cape Town. My Master’s thesis looked at describing the activity of populations of neurons using maximum entropy models.

I enjoy trying to model and visualise complex processes, as well as explore the ethical dimensions of using machine learning, particular in health applications. My free time is occupied by reading, making music - acoustic and electronic - bringing friends together around ambitious meals, and running, climbing or surfing depending on the terrain.
