Moritz Gögl

DPhil Student

I grew up in Regensburg, Germany, and completed my undergraduate in physics at the University of Munich, with my bachelor’s project in theoretical physics focusing on extra-dimensional gravity models. I then moved to the UK to complete a two-year master's degree in physics at Imperial College London, supplemented by internships in finance and consulting. During my master's studies, I became very passionate about machine and deep learning and worked on new methods to improve the training of image processing neural networks.

My other research interests lie in the application of machine learning on health data such as in the context of decision support tools, time series, wearables or prediction of disease trajectories – but I am always keen to explore new areas of research.

Outside of work, I love spending time in the great outdoors, organising hiking and cycling tours, playing the piano, and meeting-up with friends.
