Charlotte Ibbeson

DPhil Student

I completed my bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at the University of Birmingham. I then studied for a master’s degree at the same university in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for which I was awarded a DeepMind scholarship. My master’s project involved the segmentation and classification of nuclei in colon histology images using Convolutional Neural Networks, integrating recent advancements in other image analysis research with current state-of-the-art methods. Between my undergraduate degree and master’s, I carried out a summer internship as a data analyst in an engineering consultancy, interrogating a cloud-based database to create visualisations and provide actionable insight.

Outside of academia, I enjoy swimming having previously competed at regional level. I also enjoy going on walks and reading.
